On this day, June 20th, I’ll be celebrating another trip around the sun–my New Year (birthday). Shout out to all the dope Geminis that grace the planet. As I’ve done for the past few years, I’m sharing that creation energy that birthdays tend to bring with my supporters as my gift to them. Usually, it’s an energy exchange in the form of a “performance” or “show” for an audience at a venue–public or private. However, this time is a little bit different. Two years ago around this time, a crew of musical assassins–Chris “CG” Gadson, Jon Keyz, Charles Hunter, Jimmy Blazer, Stephen Greer, and my King, Sha Alheem–aided me in producing and recording a project I’m extremely proud of. In a private location with an audience of less than 20, we made magic. To celebrate the anniversary of my birth, we’ll be releasing the lead single from that project on all major digital platforms, and I’m uber excited!! Over the last couple of years, I hesitated to release the EP/album (I haven’t decided what to call it yet, lol) because I feared the masses may not appreciate it as much as my local supporters. Now, I’ve stopped worrying if it’s perfect enough, if it’ll be accepted, if people will receive it in the same spirit that I created it. My job was to simply create it, to bring it to fruition, to stop allowing fear to rob me of my opportunities and my voice. I’m honored to have found my tribe, my crew in ATX willing to to blend their magic with mine to make this happen. Undying love and gratitude to my King–Sha Alheem for the role he plays every single day in helping me make my dreams a reality (not just in music).
