Synopsis:
Robert King, Jr.’s NEW stage play adaptation is loosely based on the book, The Bishop’s Wife by Robert Nathan. Nathan’s work sparked several film adaptations and remakes, with the most recent (and well-known) being the 90’s film version that stars the late, great Whitney Houston, Courtney B. Vance, and Denzel Washington. King’s version incorporates some elements from the film but with a modern day twist.
In this stage adaptation, Dudley has been waiting to earn his wings. After God shows him flashbacks from Julia and Henry’s life, it is decided that he now has enough information to equip him for the task. Dudley poses as the answer to Henry’s prayer requests, but gets distracted by Henry’s wife, Julia. The play is uplifting and shines a light on preacher’s wives with empathy.
